NFP and SMART VSA (Volume Spread Analysis) Software

On big news events such as NFP (US Non Farm Payrolls) we often find that VSA prepositions for news and today was no exception.

 

GBP/USD 15 minute chart.  I took the long at 158.66 after strength indications on our Advanced SOW (strength or weakness) Module and our Reverse Spinning Rowboat Signal Module.  The trade is currently sitting at +80 pips and trailing.

This chart is being posted and was grabbed on my mini netbook (hence the small chart and lack of annotation) so I will do an annotated version from the mains in a moment.

 

Using SMART VSA it was a fairly easy play.  When the trailing stop gets taken out I will be looking for a long USD basket trade on the inevitable profit taking although this is not a volume based play so I will not post the details in here but we are discussing it in the chat.

Our Very Own "SMART" VSA (Volume Spread Analysis) In Action

SMART VSA (which consists of our proprietary advanced VSA multi-bar patterns and signal modules identified using SMART) is beginning to take shape.

 

This example chart of a very simple SMART VSA setup caught a 375+ pip move on AUD/JPY.

SMART Trader VSA (Volume Spread Analysis) Software Update Is Live

The planned SMART Trader VSA (Volume Spread Analysis) Software Update Is Now Live:

The update includes the following changes/additions:
  • Optimized the No Demand and Supply Test Modules
  • Optimized the Shakeout Module
  • Added Caution Signals for potential (prior to confirmation)  No Demand and Supply Test signals
  • Added No Selling Pressure Module
  • Added VWAP Price Module
  • Added a custom interval setting to the VS/R Module (default was daily before)
  • Added two new advanced modules: Tree Hugging Fruitcake (Strong Short Signal) and Reverse Tree Hugging Fruitcake (Strong Long Signal)
  • Added a setting (VolumeLookback) for the climax bars. Volume must be the highest volume in VolumeLookback periods to classified a climax bar.
  • Added "Climactic Action" bars. Any bar that is ultra high vol and ultra spread is now painted
  • The HVA/Z Module (High Volume Area Module) is not included in this update as it is still going through testing.

Added the following Audio Alert Sound Files:
  • smart_unconfirmed_supply_test.wav
  • smart_unconfirmed_no_demand.wav
  • smart_no_selling_pressure.wav
  • smart_unconfirmed_no_selling_pressure.wav
  • smart_tree_hugging_fruitcake.wav
  • smart_reverse_tree_hugging_fruitcake.wav

You can download the updates from within the clients area.  Please be sure to download both the installer and the sound installer as we have added new audio alerts for the new signals.

Updates Possibly Coming Later This Week In SMART Volume Spread Analysis Software

We have been busy with some modifications and programing for a planned update to the SMART Trader (Volume Spread Analysis) Software. If you already own a SMART license this update will be free.  Here are a couple of things that should make it into this update:
  • A VSR (Volume Based Support and Resistance) Modification that looks very promising in our internal testing.
  • Two new SMART Trader Advanced Signal Modules.  I will post screenshots later today (Time permitting)
  • Caution Based Signal Versions for any signal that requires confirmation. The signal will paint prior to confirmation but with a new color or icon (This might wait till our next update)

Another Quick AUD/JPY Chart Using SMART Volume Spread Analysis Software

Here is another quick chart on AUD/JPY.  This chart is a good example of how the Background Scanners in SMART can keep you on the right side of a trade and why you should always pay attention to signs of strength/weakness in the background.

 

Range when I started looking was neutral but we had multiple signs of strength (noted on chart #2) I started trading long after #2  I got my first in at 78.27. I scaled in at signs of strength (SMART Blue Bar) prior to #4 and again just prior to #5  It took a while to get out of the DZ but it hit 78.81 (I called the move to 78.80 in the live chat just prior to UK Opening)

 

We are now at 78.65 and a potential SMART Red Bar may be forming on H1.  I marked my chart and will look to see in the AM.  My target short term on the long side is SMART POC 79.20 ish but I may revise this depending on how things look in the morning.

 

I am now trailing and off to bed.

This is a very quick analysis on AUD/JPY H1 Using SMART by request.  This pair can be excellent for longer term swap and has some very nice moves as well.  I pulled in 250 pips over night taking very quick simple SMART/VSA based trades. I called some of the moves when I was in the Live Volume Spread Analysis Chat Room (Free)

 

We are in the middle of rolling out the Audio Alerts Update so I don’t have the time at the moment to properly annotate the chart as I normally would but you get the basic idea.

Also included in this update: Advanced Spinning Rowboat Module, Bag Holding Module, HG's Dynamic Balance Line, On screen color code guide,  and some minor optimizations.

An example of a Treehugging Fruitcake

One of the great strengths of the SMART Trader (Volume Spread Analysis) Software is that it gives you the ability to recognize multi bar patterns you may not have otherwise seen such as the Mount Fuji Fakeout, The Spinning Rowboat, and the newest dubbed the Treehugging Fruitcake.

 

Here is a quick chart showing a SMART Green Bar (Effort To Rise) on Excessive Volume (Weakness) Into a SMART Pink Bar (Effort To Fall) on high but not excessive volume (Weakness).

 

I will test this further and see if it’s worthy of it’s own alert.

 

 

Sound alerts are done and the update should roll out tomorrow.  The Spinning Rowboat Advanced Module is testing and may also make it in tomorrow’s update.  A s you may be aware you are alerted of new updates via your chart but I will also post a message here and in the chat.
